Demons

Sometimes, there are days where everything everywhere that could possibly go right goes right. Nothing at all goes wrong. It is on these days that angels are born.

Sometimes, there are items that are created under blessed circumstances, with angels watching over it's creation. Everything that could possibly go right goes right. Nothing at all goes wrong.

When these two events happen at the same time, when an angel is born while a blessed item is being created, that angel will be born into that item. And that item will forever be blessed and lucky.

Sometimes however, there are days where everything everywhere that could possibly go wrong goes wrong. Nothing at all goes right. It is on these days that Demons are born.

Sometimes, there are items that are created under cursed circumstances, with demons watching from the shadows.

When these two events happen at the same time, when a demon is born while a cursed item is being created, that demon will be born into that item. And that item will forever be cursed.

These demon items are always trying to destroy, whatever rooms they are placed in are doomed to be destroyed in time. Whoever owned them always dies before their time. Whoever touched it will be injured horribly. Most of these items are containers, and if these containers are ever opened, then the demon gets released. And is free to wreak havoc on the world.

A bit dark I know, but we need a bit of evil every now and then.

Go!

The Chest (Plus a Message to All of You)

Story: You walk into the room It's old, very, very old. Almost everything has been stolen or taken. You look around, there's a chair, a hardwood table, some candleholders that were obviously held onto the wall to tightly for any thieves to remove, some cobwebs, a few scraps of paper, and then there was the chest.

.

Instructions: Describe the chest, is it old or is it new? Has it always been there or did someone put it there? What does it look like? Fancy, with intricate carvings or plane and simple? Is it big?

.

Why is it there? Why hasn't someone taken it? Is it too heavy to take? Or maybe it's in the ground and is part of the room.

.

Do you open the chest? If you do, is it easy to open, or does it take a lot of effort? What's inside it? Is there anything inside it? If you don't open it, why is that? Is it locked? Did someone interrupt you? Or did you just feel like you shouldn't do it.

.

That's it, go!

.

Message Time

There hasn't been very many prompts recently, definitely a lost less than a prompt every day, so I'm going to try and post at least one prompt a day every day from now on. Until I either lose interest (which hopefully won't happen) or I run out of ideas (also hopefully not going to happen). They may be in the form of an image with some text, maybe a song or maybe something completely different. Some of them may not be very good, but I feel that with prompts, it's better to have lots of ideas that might not be that good, rather than a few very good ones. So yeah, if I don't get one up every day then I apologise, but I have a life and sometimes it gets in the way (note, that was in no way intended as an insult.) If I do miss a day then I'll try and make up for it with at least 2 the next day, but that just might not happen.

.

There hasn't been many replies lately either, and while we aren't exactly a big sub, we do have over 3,500 subscribers and there must be more who of you who don't subscribe. Of course not all of them will check the subreddit frequently, but there is probably quite a few of you who do (rhyming FTW!) You might not all consider yourself to be good writers, but it doesn't matter. If a prompt gives you an idea, then you should write about it and post it in a reply, even if you think it's bad. If it is bad, then we can give you tips on how to improve it, turning you into a better writer. There's no harm in trying. We're all friendly here (At least from what I've seen), and I know that I'd be willing to provide feedback if people requested it, and I'm sure many others would too.

.

This subreddit is cool, but if we try, we can make it awesome. We are all writers, after all, you wouldn't have much interest in this sub if you weren't. If you aren't a writer, then I encourage you to become one. Writing's fun, and everyone should try it, no matter how bad you think you are. Almost everyone sucked at writing at one point, I know I did. But you can't improve if you don't try, so just give it a go!

.

Ok, that's it from me, sorry for that lengthy message, but I really want to turn this subreddit into the epicness that I know it can be.

And remember, keep on writing!

The Reflection

Here's Today's prompt.

The water was beautiful, crystal clear. You could easily see the bottom. It was almost as if there was no water there at all. There were light gusts from time to time, occasionally fuzzing the otherwise mirror like reflection of the trees above the river. You gaze into the water, examining your reflection, focussing on all the bumps and ridges on your face. You dip your hands into the water and swirl it around a bit, still looking in the water. You keep staring at it until the ripples go away. That's when you see the face looking over your shoulder...

Ok all you wonderful writers, go!

Behind The Mask

Short on time, so just a quick one today:

Write about a masquerade with an insidious plot behind the bright colors.

The stranger and the coin.

I'm on my xbox for a while due to hard times, so typing anything more than a few sentences is rough. Ergo, I figured a prompt would be a good place to start.

Walking home from work, you see a beautiful/handsome stranger. We're well into spring and it's a lovely day, so you decide to take a detour and absorb their incredible appearance for a minute or two. As you follow them, trying your damndest not to feel like a stalker, you notice something shiny fall out of their pocket/purse. You grab it off the ground and attempt to gain their attention to return it, but they are gone. Glancing down at the item, you realize it is a bright, golden coin. It has strange markings on it you don't recognize and is heavy and cold in your hand. You glance up again hoping to see the stranger, but they seem to have vanished. Disappointed and slightly confused, you begin to head back towards home.

Hasn't been a prompt for a while, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Today's prompt is to right about a leaf, falling from a tree. Focus on the leaf, why is it so important? Perhaps it's the last leaf falling of autumn, signifying that winter is coming. Or perhaps it means something else entirely. What does it mean then? And what are the implications of that something?

Sorry if it's not very good, this is my first prompt. I have a very clear idea in my head but I'm just not sure how to convey it clearly. If anyone's interested, I wrote a 2500 word short story from this idea. I'll post a link to it if you guys want.

Anyway, have fun with the prompt!

Unknown Waters

I know how much fun writing depressing and unhappy endings can be- it's what I specialize at. But today, try doing something different.

For this prompt, imagine you are on board an unknown ship. Maybe you were a survivor of a wreck, maybe you just wanted out of wherever you were. The crew is very circumspect about where you're heading, or why you're heading there. So, imagine them a destination with their new crew mate- but a HAPPY one. Rescuing sea turtles, pirate hunting instead of piracy, as long as it is a happy ending overall.

Happy endings are so much more difficult to write, but I feel like the world would be better off with more of them. Good luck!
