The highway sprang up, pushing the ocean away. They moved the trees and replaced them with concrete. Then they replaced the stew of rock, rubble and soil with man made forest. There they plopped it on the side of the road, used only to filter the sounds of the passing automobiles and serve as a nest for all sorts of vermin.
"Highway." She scoffed. Smoke flowing from her nostrils as she peered from her window to the street.
