One day in the far off future our descendants may find a way to switch off the gene responsible for aging, making us virtually immortal.
What happens when we grow tired of living?
Enjoy!

You are shocked to receive a letter in the mail from someone who was once a close friend. They disappeared almost 5 years ago under very mysterious circumstances.
You wonder why anyone would use snail mail in this day and age. Your attention is drawn to the date of the postmark.
November 22, 1963
This is a prompt by Legoland that, even though I never got around to finishing anything for, always stood out for me.
Today, imagine yourself as an astronaut, one of many, up in space, working on some important equipment, when you are forced out of your harness, and deeper into space. With all hope of rescue lost, you are relegated to sending out communications to the station, and any receivers on Earth. As you drift further and further away, however, your messages will take longer to send, and thus, may not reach at all. What are your thoughts as you experience this situation? What do you send, what do you say? Is there anyone in particular who you try to contact? Do you leave a log for those who will eventually collect your body? Be crafty, and have fun!
The character in this prompt has been working on a project for a very long time. Years of their life have fallen away before their eyes as they slave endlessly away. Finally, the day has arrived. It's almost done. It's... what is it? :)
Write about a character with an unexpected animal companion today. Have fun!

Write a story in which this is true. Your character benefits after learning the truth. You can make this as simple or as complex as you desire.
What is the truth? How is the character set free? Are they set free literally or metaphorically? How does learning the truth change their life or perspective?
Just some questions to consider or disregard as you see fit.
Enjoy!
You are the first person to be copied and transmitted across the galaxy. You are told an exact replica of you will appear on a far off colony world based on instructions sent to that location after you are scanned and encoded here on earth. You being the original, will remain here safe and sound.
You think that sounds like a wonderful adventure, until you materialize on that world and you are still you.
Everything you knew has been left behind. Your lover. Your family. Your pets. Your life.
So, how do you react?
Enjoy!

Inspired by a line from a prompt response from /u/wouterdrucker.
An idea struck me to write about a a man/woman who is straight/thought they were straight but has found themselves falling for a person of the same gender. A person who is a drag king/queen.
Yes, you know what safe I mean. Let's imagine it's finally revealed what lies inside. Describe the scene.
Have fun!
...The doors opened, bright sunlight temporarily blinding me, then I hear the roar. It’s the crowd, they are going absolutely mental. All the citizens of Karq, the greatest city that is or ever will be, are here to watch. Everyone loves The Trials, the display of ancient power far greater then most of them comprehend. Suddenly, I hear a fizzling, I stop looking at the crowd and lower my eyes and then I see him, my opponent...

I remember when I was younger reading One Minute Mysteries and having a lot of fun figuring them out. For example...
A suicide victim is found hanging from a rafter in an otherwise empty room which has been locked from the inside. There are no windows. There is no visible means by which they could have gotten up there. It is observed that the floor beneath them is damp.
The question being, of course, how did they get up there to hang themselves?
The Prompt
Write a One Minute Mystery. It should be something that is possible to solve by using common sense and very short.
Have Fun!

First post from me in forever, the sub's changed a lot since the other mods have come on, and I think these changes are what we needed to keep it afloat.
Anyway, to the prompt, albeit a tad cliched: imagine you stumble across a room full of statues comprised of crystal glass arranged in incredible, almost surreal poses. Many, if not all of the statues seem to be in the middle of some action, though you're not sure what. Upon touching one, the statue transforms into a human, who is indeed in the process of doing some action.
What is the most interesting action that any of the people were doing? Do any of the people know each other? Were any of the people aware of their surroundings while they remained enclosed as crystal?
Enjoy!

I have finally advanced to the stage where I am now eligible to attempt The Trials. I stand alone at one end of the great hall. Columns flank each side of the vast chamber, my classmates peering from behind them to watch the coming spectacle. I will either rise in triumph or fall from grace in the struggle. Only the fates know which will come to pass.
The flickering torchlight reveals a tall figure dressed in flowing black robes standing at the far end of the hall. He bears no weapons, yet his power is unmistakable. My mind is filled with arcane knowledge of the elements, trying to anticipate and form a plan of action.
"Prepare to defend yourself, young mage." he intones as he raises his hand towards me.
The contest begins...
Write a review of any television series or movie as if you somehow interpreted it as a documentary instead of a work of fiction.
Make your case as you reveal your brilliant theory as to why you suspect the events portrayed never really happened!
Have fun!
When I was working in a college cafeteria a few years back, I got a compliment for the chef from a customer. I went back into the kitchen to pass it on, and unwittingly interrupted an argument about how bad the item was with a compliment ABOUT the item. From then on, the chefs referred to me as Delilah, and every time the song Hey There Delilah came on the radio (it had just come out that summer), they loudly sang along while shooting me dirty looks. (It was all in good fun).
For today's prompt, write a story about a "Delilah", a female betrayer.
Write an adventure story in which little that happens could have been predicted or expected, yet there is a logical explanation as to why it all happened the way it did.
Enjoy!

Write the valedictorians speech of a university 300 years from now.
Just imagine all the new technology they have, what they have discovered, and maybe even a new race has come to learn from our universities? Will our valedictorian even be human?

That's where you start the first sentence beginning with the letter A. Then the next sentence begins with the letter B. So on through the entire alphabet A to Z. Any subject you like is fine!
